Looking for ways to save money? Did you know that some of the fresh produce that we buy from the grocery store can keep on giving?
Yup, it’s true. Some produce can be regrown with either a little water or a little dirt, or both!
In this case, I used up most of the scallions that I bought at the grocery store. I chopped it down to just before the white part and almost threw it away when my sub-conscious screamed at me, “STOP!”. I thought, what if I could plant these scallions and grow them so that I have them whenever I want???
I placed the mini-used-up scallions in a glass of water for a day and the next day I planted them in dirt…just to right above the white part, then I soaked them with water. Within a few days (seriously, it was less than a week), the scallions were regrown to the size that they were when I bought them at the store.
I did this a little over a month ago, and I have clipped the regrowth several times for my recipes. This truly is brilliant!
Now, I’m on a mission to try to regrow other produce that I bought at the grocery store. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!
